Wait. Are you familiar with the saying “Go Hard or Go Home”? Well I bet you are and before you get mixed feelings about this, I just want to say the quote literally was ripped in shreds the moment Pop American Rapper and Singer, Kelechi clipped his album and titled it Going Home and then went really hard from start like he was starting a fight to prove himself. Boy oh boy, what was I thinking?

Before my thoughts get the best of me, my history and familiarity with Kelechi goes a long way back to 2018 when I bumped into the single “Play With My Hair” while on a quest to search for African affiliated talents overseas and right on the spot, I was impressed. Dialing with beautiful dreadlocks, black skin, great voice texture which was finely tuned for the mastery of beautiful melodies, Kelechi had me on his side and that though I lived a short relationship with his music, the beautiful energy it left in me was not deleted and yet again in times of need, I find myself submerged in his content on my page – Thanks to “Angrymob”

With a short video expressing his journey so far, I felt reconnected to his music and history with his career. A recap that bounced me back to the spot which I fell out from, and this time, I was introduced to his Project “Going Home”.

The soundtrack “On Me” off the Project played in the video I saw and I had the feeling of Kelechi experimenting on Afro Pop Rhythm and Vibes and this had to be a must check out for me and here I am, listening to the beautiful 13 Track, 35Minutes Engineered Album featuring guest appearances from Phay, Yungmoonling and Jidenna.

The Album Kicked Off With “Nigga Really On Tour,” Track 1, Kelechi Showing off his lyrical strength and the ability to speak his heart on beats and good melodies laced in between opening roads leading to Track 2, “Road Life” and then Track 3- “Waiting For You” which introduced the afro vibes and yes, you really would enjoy this especially with the fact that it also comes before the beautiful Chief Talk, A short Interlude which featured Pop Singer, Jidenna and led to my favourite “On Me’ at Track 5. Kelechi definitely knew a way to reach out to those at home with his placement of Nigerian Pidgin, indeed a very beautiful input and we love it.

The Project Has overtime grown On Me, and yes, Kelechi Going Home wasn’t a bad idea.
