Born on July 12, 2000, in Ketu, Lagos State, his journey from his early beginnings to his current status as a leading figure in Afrobeats is both inspiring and impressive.
Seyi Vibez Early Life and Career
Seyi Vibez spent his formative years in Ketu before moving to Ikorodu, Lagos State. His musical journey began in earnest in 2019 with the release of his debut single “Anybody.” However, it was the 2020 release of “Godsent” that truly marked his arrival on the Nigerian music scene. The following year, he released his debut studio album, No Seyi No Vibez (NSNV), which laid a strong foundation for his burgeoning career.
Breakthrough and Success
The release of his second studio album, Billion Dollar Baby, in 2022, marked a turning point for Seyi Vibez. The album’s standout single, “Chance (Na Ham),” debuted at No. 19 on the UK Afrobeats singles chart and peaked at No. 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart. Meanwhile, In early 2023, he released his debut extended play (EP), Memory Card. The five-track EP featured American rapper YXNG K.A and amassed over 6.30 million streams in its first week. Personal Challenges and Triumphs
March 2023 brought personal tragedy with the passing of his mother. Describing it as the “darkest day” of his life, he expressed his profound grief and love for his mother on social media. This loss has undoubtedly shaped his personal and artistic journey.
In January 2024, Seyi Vibez shared the invaluable advice he received from Burna Boy: “Don’t complain, just believe, show no sign of weakness, and keep moving.” This guidance seems to have influenced his resilient approach to his career.
