On September 12, 2023, the Nigerian music industry mourned the loss of the talented rapper, singer, and songwriter, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, professionally known as MohBad, who passed away at the age of 27.

MohBad was formerly associated with Naira Marley’s ‘Marlian Records’ before parting ways with the label in 2022. He made a significant mark in the music scene with hit singles such as Peace,” “Ask About Me,” “Ponmo,” “Feel Good,” and the chart-topping “KPK (Ko Por Ke),” a collaboration with Rexxie. The latter track earned three nominations at The Headies Awards in 2022.

A testament to his musical prowess, MohBad was recognized as one of Audiomack’s top 21 Afrobeats artists in 2021. In 2022, he released “Peace,” produced by Rexxie and Spykida, which reached its peak in the TurnTable charts’ top 50 in 2021 and remained in the top 100 in 2022.

His journey in the music industry began with the release of his first EP, titled “Light,” following his signing with Marlian Records World in 2019. This eight-song EP featured collaborations with superstars such as Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh.

In the wake of his demise, his music has experienced a resurgence, gaining traction and climbing the charts once again. His previous album, in particular, has claimed the top spot, securing the no. 1 position in the country’s music charts, affirming his enduring legacy in the Nigerian music scene.
