Nigerian Singer And Songwriter, Tiwa Savage To Star In The Feature Film “Water And Garri”
Tiwa Savage, a popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, is about to make her debut in the film industry as she takes on the lead role in the upcoming feature film “Water and Garri.” The movie, produced jointly by Unbound Studios and JM Films, tells the story of Aisha, a successful fashion designer who returns to her homeland to confront her past guilt.
“Water and Garri” is directed by Meji Alabi, and Comfort Emmanuel is the writer behind the storyline. The film also features the talents of Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde in supporting roles. Filmed in the city of Cape Coast, Ghana, the project is the first feature-length production from both the production companies.
Apart from playing the lead role, Tiwa Savage also wrote and performed the film’s original soundtrack and served as an executive producer through her company, Everything Savage. The shooting has concluded, and the movie is expected to hit the screens soon.
In a recent interview with Screen Daily, Tiwa Savage expressed her excitement and shared her experience while working on the film. “This project was a complete labour of love that has been a dream of mine for a number of years. Performing as Aisha allowed me to be totally vulnerable and pushed me to express myself in a way that I’ve never done before. It was an honour to share my debut as an actress with Meji whilst filming on the African continent with a cast and crew that I have immense admiration and respect for. I’m excited for the world to see this film.”
The director of “Water and Garri,” Meji Alabi, expressed his pleasure working with Tiwa Savage and the team, calling the film a perfect progression of their creative growth and shared vision of exploring beyond boundaries.
