Billie Eilish has revealed her upcoming album titled ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, ending a three-year hiatus since her last release.
Scheduled to drop on May 17th, the album, represented by Eilish submerged underwater beneath a white wooden door on its cover, is designed to be experienced as a cohesive journey from start to finish. Eilish expressed her eagerness for fans to hear the album in its entirety, opting not to release singles beforehand.
Teasing the album’s arrival on Instagram with cryptic images and messages, Eilish has been building anticipation among her followers. ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ will mark her third studio album, succeeding 2021’s ‘Happier Than Ever’ and her debut, ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ in 2019.
Despite the gap between albums, Eilish has kept her fans engaged with intermittent releases such as the surprise EP ‘Guitar Songs’ in 2022 and her contribution to the Barbie soundtrack with “What Was I Made For?” in the previous year, which garnered critical acclaim and prestigious awards.
In an effort towards sustainability, the album will be available in various vinyl formats made from recyclable materials. Eilish, who recently discussed sustainability in the music industry, clarified her stance, emphasizing the collective responsibility of artists and fans in combating climate change.
