Rema, Nigerian singer known for his platinum remix of “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez, has just released two new solo singles. The release comes just in time for his upcoming performance at the NBA All-Star Game halftime show, where he will be joined by Burna Boy and Tems for an Afrobeats set.
The first of the two new tracks, “Holiday,” is a spiritual dance song with rattling shekeres and a pulsing beat. Produced by Blaisebeatz, who has previously worked with artists like Kizz Daniel and Chris Brown, the song features Rema’s lyrics reflecting on his music’s global travels while offering a prayer for his family’s protection.
The second track, “Reason You,” is a more contemplative piece driven by guitar sounds and Rema’s heartfelt longing. The lyrics express Rema’s admiration for a person in a dress while questioning their relationship status.
Rema’s debut album, Rave & Roses, was released in March of last year and features the original solo version of “Calm Down” along with 16 other tracks. With the release of these two new singles, fans eagerly anticipate what’s to come from this rising Afrobeats star.
