Chris Brown now has a bigger lead over Elvis Presley in terms of the number of Gold-certified singles in music history for male singers.
The 33-year-old crooner’s most recent song, “Call Me Every Day,” off his studio album Breezy, earned him his 56th Gold single last Thursday (Jan. 5), giving him two more Gold singles than the Memphis legend, who presently has 54 Gold-certified singles. NBA YoungBoy (93), Kanye West (88), Drake (74), Eminem (72), and Future (68) are the only male musicians with more RIAA Gold certifications .
When Chris Brown’s 2022 single “Under the Influence,” a Virginia native, hit 500,000 cumulative sales, Brown began to distance himself from Presley. He now ranks among the top male R&B musicians of all time with 92.5 million singles sold overall over his career.
With more than 100 appearances on the list last year, the singer became the most decorated performer in Billboard Hot 100 history. According to a source from July, Brown had garnered 112 Billboard Hot 100 entries as a result of the debut of Breezy, surpassing Presley in the process. The late rock star has, as of this writing, had 109 entries on the Hot 100 list.
Breezy, Brown’s tenth studio album, was released in June 2022. Lil Wayne, Anderson.Paak, Blxst, Lil Baby, H.E.R., EST Gee, Wizkid, Jack Harlow, Tory Lanez, Fivio Foreign, Ella Mai, Yung Bleu, Capella Grey, Lil Durk, Davido, and Bryson Tiller all make appearances on the album, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. “Iffy” and “Warm Embrace” are two more singles from the album.
